Transport link in Tashkent and across Uzbekistan.

You can move around the city using different ways, buses, trolleybuses, trams, metro and taxis.

The most popular mode of transport not only in Tashkent, but also in the whole of Uzbekistan is taxi. Catching a taxi will not be a problem, the salaries in the country are small and therefore the majority of the population makes money by transporting passengers in their own cars from one point to another. On average, a taxi through Tashkent will cost you about $2 to get to the city center and drive through the whole city for about $4. Also, a popular app, «yandex taxi», has recently been launched in the city.

The second most popular is a metro, it is considered one of the most beautiful both in the CIS and throughout the European part. There are 3 lines and 29 stations of the metro as of 2019. Also at the moment the construction of the aboveground metro is under way, which is expected to be launched by 2020-2022. Travel will cost you about $0.20 per entrance. Law enforcement officers also stand at each station at the entrance to check luggage and handbags for security purposes, so Uzbekistan is considered the safest country for tourists for 2018.

The third place is all other transport (cost $0.20), good buses run in the city centre, but if you go to suburb, the quality of buses changes dramatically and becomes quite inconvenient.

My advice is to use a taxi service to get around the city all the time and go down the subway just to see some of the stations in what style they are decorated in. (It is forbidden to take pictures on the subway, but of course our active tourist can sneak a picture of everything, but being carefully.)

Now I will tell you if you decided to go to the mountains or to any city (Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Kokand, Navoi, etc.).

A trip to the mountains will be the most comfortable if you use the services of our company and order a sightseeing car to all the sights.

Cost of transfer will be as follows: sedan – $ 70, vehicle, up to 10 seats – $ 100 and bus about $ 150-300, depending on what class of bus you will order.

For independent trip to the mountains use the train, they go from the railway stations to Charvak. You can take a taxi to Gazalkent and then take a taxi to Charvak. The only disadvantage is that this route will not take you to Chimgan or to Beldersay (places where there are cable cars). But you can get to the famous so-called “Bochka” (barrel) and eat shish kebabs or any other dishes there.

In the mountains you can arrange horseback riding with any local resident. Several times I have used such services myself, I strongly advise. The equestrian ride to the tulip fields took about 4 hours both ways and made $50 for two horses.

Also in the mountains there are many other interesting places where you can get only on horseback or on foot, but please check a separate tour program in the mountains, as it is undesirable to go there yourself (some places will be unavailable to you without special equipment).

Travel to other cities in Uzbekistan: there are high-speed trains such as Afrosiab and Sharq. These trains will take you to your destination quickly enough, the average speed of Afrosiab is 200-250 km/h, Sharq is about 120 km/h, the rest of the trains go quite long and make many stops in settlements, but they are also in demand. The only drawback for tourists and locals is that it is not possible to buy a ticket for Afrosiab in advance, as mostly all tickets are sold on request from travel agencies and various large companies. Tickets appear on sale 5 days before the departure date and sometimes they simply are not available. To solve this issue you can go directly to cashiers paying them a little under-the-counter money, some $4, or use the services of resellers, with $5-10 excess payment. But it is better not to rely on them 100%. Try to book your tickets well in advance!

Wish you a pleasant trip!
